Boundless Unveils Mainnet: A Leap Forward in Blockchain Scaling
On September 15, Boundless welcomed its mainnet, officially graduating from beta phase. The transition showcases its belief that blockchain technology can follow the scaling success of the internet.
This launch brings two major innovations: Proof of Verifiable Work and ZK Coin (ZKC). Rather then traditional block mining, provers earn rewards for generating verifiable proofs—a game-changer in blockchain economics.
The spark of this breakthrough came in 2021 with RISC Zero’s introduction of the RISC-V zkVM. This allowed developers to create zero-knowledge proofs using familiar programming languages. Though, broader ecosystem scaling remained elusive until boundless designed a global protocol to enable verifiable computation widely.
A pivotal moment was the beta launch in July 2025. It drew 2,500 provers and 411,000 participants. The Kaito token sale netted $71 million, showing strong investor interest.
Proof of Verifiable Work reimagines mining. Traditional systems waste energy on arbitrary tasks; Boundless rewards actual computations. Rewards scale based on proof complexity, creating a true verifiable computation market.
To safeguard this system, provers must stake ZKC. As proof demand rises, more coins are locked, improving security and driving value. Though, as launch, ZKC saw volatility, dropping about 55% from its peak.
