Vitalik Buterin sells More Memecoins, Reinforcing His Skepticism
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has once again sold off a batch of memecoins. This time, he traded DOJO, SPURDO, and MARVIN for about 22.14 ETH, valued at roughly $96,400.
Buterin’s latest move is part of a recurring pattern. He frequently enough receives unsolicited memecoins from projects hoping to leverage his influence. However, Buterin prefers not to hold these tokens. Rather, he sells them, as seen in this recent transaction.
Shortly after the sale, Buterin transferred 70 ETH, around $304,000, to an unknown wallet. He used the RAILGUN privacy protocol for this transfer. The link between the sale and the transfer is unclear, but it has sparked interest in the crypto community.
Buterin has been vocal about his skepticism towards memecoins. He believes most lack real utility and calls for higher-quality meme tokens with genuine value. This stance dates back to 2021 when he received $7 billion worth of Shiba Inu tokens. Buterin donated $1 billion to COVID-19 relief in India and burned the rest.
Buterin’s actions highlight his commitment to ethical crypto practices. He encourages projects to donate unsolicited tokens to charity rather of sending them to him. This latest sale reinforces his belief that memecoins should offer more than just speculation.
