SEC Announces New Crypto Task Force Members
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has unveiled the lineup for its Crypto Task Force. This comes after Commissioner Hester Peirce’s memo on March 3, published on the SEC website. The task force brings together experts from various SEC divisions.
Peirce emphasized the team’s expertise and dedication to tackling crypto regulatory challenges. The group aims to create practical solutions for the industry. They will work with other SEC experts and the public to shape effective regulations.
The task force includes Richard Gabbert as Chief of Staff, Michael Selig as Chief Counsel, and Taylor Asher as Chief Policy Advisor. Other members are Sumeera Younis, Landon Zinda, and senior advisors like Donald Battle, Bernard Nolan, and Laura Powell.

Under the previous governance, the SEC increased enforcement against crypto firms, imposing hefty fines. In 2024, it levied $4.68 billion in penalties, 68% of its lifetime crypto fines. Though, recent months show a shift. The SEC has closed investigations into major crypto entities like Gemini and Coinbase, suggesting a more lenient approach.
