MoonPay Secures Wisconsin Money Transmitter License
MoonPay has obtained a Money Transmitter License from Wisconsin’s Department of Financial Institutions. This new license enables the company to offer its services in the state, as announced in a press release.
wisconsin residents can now use MoonPay Balance to deposit funds for free purchases, except for ecosystem and network fees.Wisconsin, the 20th most populous U.S. state, has shown growing interest in cryptocurrencies. It was the first state government to buy Bitcoin last year.
This license boosts MoonPay’s total Money Transmitter Licenses to 46, showing its commitment to regulatory compliance across the U.S. Ivan Soto-Wright, MoonPay’s co-founder and CEO, stated, “This license strengthens our position as a fully regulated platform.”
MoonPay’s recent acquisitions highlight its expansion plans. The company acquired Iron, a stablecoin infrastructure startup, to enhance its enterprise payment solutions. This is MoonPay’s second major acquisition in two months.
In January, MoonPay bought Helio for about $175 million. helio has processed over $1.5 billion in transactions in three years.
