Ronin Network Enhances Security with Chainlink Integration
The Ronin Network, a blockchain for gaming, has successfully migrated its Ronin Bridge to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This move aims to boost security and accessibility for gamers and developers.
On April 25,the Ronin Network, known for its web3 gaming platform, completed the migration. Chainlink’s CCIP now serves as the bridge’s primary cross-chain infrastructure. This decision follows a community vote in October 2024, where Chainlink was chosen over LayerZero and Axelar. the platform, created by the sky mavis team behind Axie Infinity, now secures over $450 million in assets. Trung Nguyen, CEO of Sky Mavis, highlighted the meaning of this transition. He stated, “This migration is a crucial step for Ronin, making it a safer and more accessible platform for Web3 gaming. Developers can build faster and more securely, while users can easily transfer assets across multiple chains.
Chainlink CCIP ensures robust cross-chain transactions. It supports tokens like AXS, YGG, BANANA, USDC, and Wrapped Bitcoin.
Previously, the Ronin bridge faced a $600 million exploit in 2022. In August 2024, transactions were paused due to a suspicious $10 million withdrawal. The new Chainlink integration aims to prevent such issues. Users can now transfer tokens via the chainlink CCIP-powered Ronin Bridge app.
However, the old bridge tab remains visible. This is because some users haven’t claimed their Ethereum tokens. The team plans to use other Chainlink solutions to enhance user experience and adoption in decentralized finance.
Key benefits of the migration include:
- Enhanced security for bridged assets
- Improved user experience
- Increased adoption in decentralized finance
With Chainlink CCIP, ronin is set to lead the gaming blockchain space.
