Binance Co-Founderās YZi Labs May Open to External Investors
Changpeng Zhao, co-founder of Binance, is considering opening YZi Labs to external investors. This move would transform it into an investment fund. YZi Labs focuses on crypto,AI,and robotics projects.
Ella Zhang, Head of yzi Labs, revealed plans to eventually make YZi Labs an external fund.The firm currently manages around $10 billion, investing in early-stage projects in crypto, AI, and biotech. According to the Financial Times, Zhang stated that the firm might open up to external investors.
YZi Labs, previously known as Binance Labs, was launched in early 2025. It operates as a family office for Changpeng Zhao and Yi he, co-founders of Binance. The firm invests in early-stage companies in Web3, crypto, AI, and biotech sectors.
Changpeng Zhao, currently 24th on Forbesā billionaires list with a net worth of $84.8 billion, uses YZi Labs to support emerging projects. Though, opening to U.S. investors could attract regulatory scrutiny. Zhao was imprisoned for four months in 2023 for failing to prevent money laundering.
After his release, Zhao aimed to invest in AI, robotics, and biotech projects. YZi Labs has received over 50 funding pitches. Digital assets make up 70% of its investments, but thereās growing interest in AI and robotics.
