Core Scientific Expands Denton Data Center for AI with coreweave
Core Scientific is set to expand its Denton, Texas, data center in a $1.2 billion deal with CoreWeave. This move aims to boost the site’s power capacity by 70 megawatts, totaling 260 MW. The partnership highlights the growing need for AI and GPU-powered computing.
Adam sullivan, CEO of Core Scientific, stated that this expansion will solidify the company’s role as a leader in AI-focused digital infrastructure. “We’re creating one of North America’s largest GPU supercomputers in Denton,” he said. this project will enhance Core Scientific’s ability to deliver high-performance computing services.
Core Scientific is shifting its focus towards AI as Bitcoin miners seek option revenue streams. The company anticipates $10.2 billion in revenue over 12 years from this agreement. CoreWeave will cover most of the costs, while Core Scientific invests $104 million.
The deal includes two optional five-year renewals, ensuring Core Scientific’s long-term involvement in AI infrastructure. The company plans to use 400 MW for Bitcoin mining and 900 MW for high-performance computing.Core Scientific is also exploring new locations to expand its AI and cloud computing capabilities.
