Ethereum Foundation Completes Pectra System Contracts Audit
The Ethereum foundation has completed the audit of the Pectra system contracts. This audit covered three Ethereum Advancement Proposals (eips): EIP-2935, EIP-7002, and EIP-7251. The review aimed to identify and resolve any vulnerabilities within the contracts.
All major issues found during the audit have been fixed. The audit ensured that the contract logic matches the functions outlined in the EIPs. The Pectra upgrade, which includes 11 EIPs, was first tested on the Holesky testnet on February 24. however, it didn’t finalize as expected.
A key EIP in this upgrade is EIP-7702. It aims to improve crypto wallet user experience by adding smart contract functionality. This supports the broader goal of integrating account abstraction on Ethereum (ETH).
Another crucial EIP is EIP-7251. It increases the maximum staking limit from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH.This change helps validators avoid distributing stakes across multiple validators when staking more than 32 ETH.
The next test for the Pectra upgrade is set for the Sepolia testnet on March 5. though, delays are possible depending on the results of the Holesky test. Despite this, the Pectra contract audit confirms that all significant issues have been resolved.
The mainnet deployment of Pectra is scheduled for April 8. The Ethereum Foundation remains optimistic about the upgrade’s progress.
