Galaxy Digital Unveils Plans for Major AI Data Center Upgrade
On august 15, 2025, Galaxy Digital revealed a $1.4 billion debt financing plan too revamp the Helios data center in West Texas. This move underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its role in AI technology.
mike Novogratz, Galaxy’s founder and CEO, expressed excitement about the project.”This financing signals Helios’ transformation into a state-of-the-art AI and high-performance computing center,” he stated. The upgrades aim to provide initial power to CoreWeave by early 2026.
To secure the funding, Galaxy injected $350 million of its own capital, ensuring the rest would come through debt. Once fully operational,Helios is expected to handle a massive 3.5 GW of power, positioning it among the largest data centers internationally.
The focus on Helios aligns with Galaxy’s strategy to venture beyond cryptocurrency into AI infrastructure. Texas offers ideal conditions due to affordable energy rates and supportive regulations.
“Our vision at Helios is to create an unparalleled AI hub. Every effort is devoted to making this campus a beacon for technological advancement,” Novogratz added.
