ondo Finance and Pantera Capital are injecting $250 million into real-world asset (RWA) projects. This initiative, named Ondo catalyst, seeks to bridge traditional finance with blockchain technology. According to Ian De Bode, Ondoās chief strategy officer, the funds will support equity and token positions in emerging RWA ventures.
The investment reflects growing interest in tokenized securities among financial institutions and exchanges.De Bode views the RWA tokenization space as an āarms race,ā driven by the demand for 24/7 market access and more efficient capital infrastructure.
The Ondo Catalyst Fund will focus on startups that tokenize traditional financial instruments, including bonds, stocks, private equity, and real estate. This follows Robinhoodās recent launch of tokenized shares for EU users, though these were based on synthetic derivatives.
Ondo has been expanding its reach. In early 2025, it launched Ondo Global Markets, a platform enabling crypto wallets and apps to access tokenized U.S. stocks, bonds, and ETFs. This platform is backed by the Global Markets Alliance, comprising entities like Solana Foundation and Fireblocks.
Ondo has also introduced tokenized Treasury products across various blockchains. Notably, it launched OUSG, a token backed by BlackRockās USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, on the XRP Ledger. This integration allows 24/7 minting and redemption using Rippleās RLUSD stablecoin.
Ondo is actively engaging with U.S. regulators to shape policies around tokenized assets. With backing from investors like Peter Thielās Founders Fund, the platform believes the future of capital markets lies on the blockchain.
