Hoodi Testnet Takes Center Stage for Taiko Developers
Taiko has unveiled Hoodi, its new public testnet, effective September 25. This marks a critically important shift as it replaces Hekla and Ethereum’s Holesky, which will be phased out by September 30.
Hoodi is now the go-to testnet for developers working on Taiko’s Ethereum-based rollup. It offers preconfirmation support, which speeds up transaction testing and mimics mainnet conditions.
key features of Hoodi include:
- Preconfirmations for faster transaction processing
- Integration with Ethereum’s validator and staking infrastructure
Developers can easily access Hoodi using Taiko’s bridge and faucet tools. The underlying layer 1 testnet is expected to remain functional untill 2028, ensuring long-term stability for infrastructure providers and staking operators.
taiko plans additional updates in Q4 2025, including the Shasta hard fork and the launch of the Gwyneth testnet. These changes will lead to improved base fees, reduced transaction costs, and a full transition to zero-knowledge proofs.Preconfirmations on the mainnet are also anticipated later this year.
To avoid disruptions, developers currently on Hekla must migrate to Hoodi and withdraw their assets by September 30. This transition ensures continued support for future expansion and maintains the project’s momentum.
