Texas Rep Proposes Crypto ATMs in Federal Buildings
Texas Representative lance Gooden has urged the General Services Management (GSA) to install cryptocurrency ATMs in federal buildings. In a letter to Acting GSA Administrator Stephen Ehikian, Gooden highlighted the need to modernize public infrastructure and cater to the growing number of Americans using digital assets.
Gooden believes this initiative would show that the government is embracing innovation responsibly. he noted that it aligns with former President Donald Trumpâs vision of U.S. leadership in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. âCrypto ATMs in federal buildings can enhance accessibility and educate the public, especially in underserved areas,â Gooden stated.
However,Gooden acknowledged the risks associated with crypto atms. He suggested implementing robust identity verification, transparent fees, and strict anti-money laundering rules. Collaboration between regulators, tech providers, and compliance experts is crucial to protect consumers.
Crypto ATMs have gained popularity but also faced regulatory scrutiny. Law enforcement has flagged them as potential fraud vectors. Goodenâs proposal aims to address these concerns by establishing clear operational guidelines.
The GSA has not yet responded to Goodenâs request. If approved, this move coudl significantly impact how Americans access and understand digital assets.
