Binance Pay Simplifies Crypto Transfers with Two New Features
Copying and pasting crypto addresses might soon be a thing of the past. Binance Pay has introduced Send On-Chain and Send via Contact, making crypto transactions as easy as sending a text. these tools streamline the process to just two steps: scan or select, then send.
On July 3, Binance Pay unveiled these features to bridge the gap between conventional payments and crypto transfers. Users can now send over 300 cryptocurrencies by selecting a contact or scanning a QR code. This eliminates the need for manual address entry and gas fees for peer-to-peer transactions.
Jonathan Lim, Global Head of Binance Pay, sees these features as part of a larger vision.âWe aim to merge off-chain and on-chain transfers into a seamless experience,â he said. âThis brings everyday utility to digital assets and simplifies global value transfers.â
Send via contact turns your phoneâs contact list into a payment network. Select a contact, choose an amount, and confirm the transaction in just three steps. If the recipient isnât on Binance, you can onboard them directly from the app, fostering a viral growth loop. For external wallets, Send On-Chain uses image recognition to decode wallet addresses from photos or screenshots, while QR scans eliminate manual entry. The system even checks for common errors, ensuring safer transactions.
these upgrades address two major crypto UX challenges: peer-to-peer transfers and on-chain transactions. Stablecoin transfers between Binance Pay users are now as fast as messaging apps, with no gas fees. This is ideal for remittances or splitting bills.
Merchants also benefit. The same QR system used in the French Riviera, where over 80 businesses now accept crypto, can now be used for peer-to-peer transactions. This suggests Binance is building an ecosystem where crypto moves as fluidly between individuals as it does at checkout counters.
Binance payâs ambitions extend beyond this update. A recent partnership with French fintech lyzi brought crypto payments to luxury hotels and retailers along the CĂŽte dâAzur. Mayor David Lisnardâs endorsement highlights crypto payments as essential infrastructure. These efforts show Binanceâs strategy to make crypto transactions as seamless as contactless cards.
