World Network Enhances Blockchain with Native USDC and CCTP V2
World Network has revamped its blockchain with native USDC support and Circle’s CCTP V2. This upgrade, announced on June 11, replaces bridged USDC with fully-backed, native tokens issued by Circle.
previously, users held wrapped versions of USDC. These were assets representing USDC from other chains. Native USDC, however, is directly minted and backed 1:1 by U.S. dollar reserves. This change boosts clarity, trust, and liquidity for World Network’s 27 million users.
Teh introduction of CCTP V2 also enhances cross-chain transfers. It allows faster, cheaper USDC transfers between blockchains. This supports better composability, enabling apps to interact seamlessly across decentralized finance platforms.
This integration brings several new features. These include circle Mint access for qualified companies, improved developer tools for USDC Mini Apps, and quicker peer-to-peer transfers. All bridged USDC on World Chain has been automatically upgraded to native.
World Network, a global digital identity and finance platform, has seen growing USDC use for remittances and payments. The latest update enhances this functionality and opens doors for developers to build more financial tools.
Recently, World raised $135 million in a public Worldcoin (WLD) token sale. Other milestones include the launch of the Orb Mini device in the U.S., a Visa partnership, and entry into Taiwan, Argentina, and Thailand.
Despite regulatory challenges in some countries, World continues to grow. Plans include adding support for Circle’s euro-pegged EURC.
